Hon Hai 10.5 panel plant will be revised to the 6th generation IGZO LCD panel plant

          According to ETnews, a south Korean newspaper, Hon Hai was plan to spend $10 billion to build a 10.5 panel plant in Wisconsin will be transformed into a plant that makes IGZO LCD panels for the sixth generation and will target niche markets including healthcare and cars. 
Reports that since 2017, Hon Hai chairman GuoTaiming, announced that they would respond the President of the United States trump Made in USA policy, about 10 billion dollars will be invested to build a large scale 10.5 generation panel plant in the area. Hon Hai has received a grant of up to $4.1 billion from the state government of Wisconsin after it broke ground in June 2018. However, there was a change in plans to build a 10.5-generation large panel plant, which would be switched to a sixth generation IGZO LCD panel plant to supply niche demand.
        Further reports stated that Hon Hai will change its plans was caused by the being build similar large panel plant in Guangzhou before it plans to open a 10.5 generation panel plant in the us state of Wisconsin. However, with downward pressure on prices due to oversupply in the large LCD panel market, Hon Hai decided to revise its original 10.5 panel plant to build a 6th-generation IGZO LCD panel plant in response to demand for high-performance panels for special purposes, including defense, medical, aerospace and automotive electronics.
         According to the plan, the Wisconsin panel factory, which started construction in June 2018, is expected to start mass production in 2020. At that time, it will produce 30,000 pieces of IGZO LCD panels every month. In fact, Hon Hai has been working hard to develop IGZO panel technology just after Hon Hai acquired Sharp, a Japanese technology giant. Guo Taiming has also stresses that IGZO LCD panels will be superior to OLED panels. However, in response to the current demand for the smart phone market, Hon Hai also began to produce OLED screens and installed them on Sharp's smart phone Akuozu Zero.
